“Beyond Myth & Metaphor” by Shabir Hussain Santosh Opens with an Intimate Preview at Triveni Kala Sangam
New Delhi, The preview evening of “Beyond Myth & Metaphor”, a solo exhibition by artist Shabir Hussain Santosh, was held at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, and was met with warm appreciation from art patrons, collectors, and members of the cultural fraternity. Hosted by Sanchit Art, the preview offered guests an early glimpse into Santosh’s latest body of work—deeply reflective canvases inspired by mythology, memory, and inner experience.
The evening was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Karan Singh, renowned scholar and statesman, and Prayag Shukla, celebrated poet and art critic. Also in attendance were artists, curators, and leading voices from Delhi’s art world, who engaged in conversations around the artist’s evolving style and meditative approach to abstraction.
Curated with an essay by Archana Khare Ghose, the exhibition highlights Santosh’s subtle yet powerful use of colour—earthy reds, amber, and sun-washed tones—that convey a quiet intensity.
Known for his deeply personal practice that draws from Kashmir, Sufism, and temple architecture, Shabir Hussain Santosh has long carved a niche for himself beyond the shadows of his legendary father, G.R. Santosh. The exhibition reflects his continued journey toward a visual language that evokes rather than explains—offering visitors a chance to reflect on myth not as narrative, but as feeling.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Karan Singh said, “Shabir Hussain Santosh’s work represents a profound inner journey. His canvases are meditative spaces that do not merely depict mythology but evoke its essence. They invite us to reflect, not just with our minds, but with our spirits. It is heartening to see such contemplative art flourish in our times.”
The exhibition Beyond Myth & Metaphor is open to the public from April 23–30, 2025 from 11 am to 8 pm, at Shridharani Gallery.
