The Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) invites you to join Art is Life, its much anticipated annual festival celebrating the intersections of art, life, and community. From November 30 to December 1, 2024 immerse yourself in a vibrant celebration that brings together visual art, music, interactive installations, and captivating performances.

Festival Highlights:
Rekha Bhardwaj Live Performance
Renowned Indian singer Rekha Bhardwaj will conclude the festival with an unforgettable performance in MAP’s main courtyard on December 1. Known for her soulful renditions that capture India’s musical heritage, Bhardwaj’s live set promises a powerful finale that celebrates the fusion of art and music.
Farah Mulla’s Sound Installation
Sound artist Farah Mulla will present an immersive sound installation that invites guests into a sensory journey exploring the profound relationship between sound, space, and self.
This installation is a reflection on the soundscapes that shape our everyday lives.
Tara Kelton Artist Talk
Contemporary artist Tara Kelton, known for her explorations in technology and human perception, will lead an artist talk delving into her insights on the digital age. Kelton’s work raises thought-provoking questions about the impact of technology on our lives and our ways of seeing the world.

● Curated Walkthroughs of MAP’s Exhibitions:
Exclusive guided walks led by MAP’s curators, featuring exhibitions on Mica paintings, legendary printmaker Krishna Reddy, trade textiles from India to Sri Lanka, an exploration of women in art through the MAP collection, digitised Bollywood ephemera woven into narratives that look at Hindi Cinema through the ages and more.
● Interactive Workshops and Installations:
Dive into hands-on art appreciation sessions, collage-making workshops inspired by cinema, community vinyl listening sessions, and dynamic installations in MAP’s courtyard.
● Performance Arts:
Enjoy a traditional Yakshagana dance and live music from the Bangalore Harmonica Club, showcasing rich local culture and talent.

Join the insightful panel, Old Photographers of Bangalore:
Personal Stories/Collective Memories, exploring the legacy and impact of Bangalore’s historic photographers.

About the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP)
Located in the heart of Bengaluru, the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) opened its doors to the public on February 18th, 2023. With a mission to harness the transformative potential of art, to enrich lives, ignite creativity, and connect people, MAP makes art accessible and engaging for everyone through innovative experiences, meaningful dialogue and building communities. Spread across 7 storeys, the museum includes art galleries, an auditorium, a library, a multimedia gallery, a technology centre, a sculpture courtyard, a learning centre, a specialised research and conservation facility, a gift store, a café, a member’s lounge and an alfresco rooftop restaurant.
MAP is custodian to a growing collection of over 60,000 artworks that take viewers on a comprehensive journey of Indian art and culture. Predominantly from South Asia and dating from the 10th century to the present, the collection includes paintings, sculptures, textiles, photographs and more. Launched in 2020, MAP’s digital museum has worked on innovative ways of connecting with audiences across the world; it offers curated online exhibitions, along with programming like artist talks, panel discussions, workshops for children, masterclasses and more. There is also a focus on quality content, ranging from blogs to essays and interviews that appeal even to people who are unfamiliar with the arts.
MAP’s core aim with the digital museum is to actively work at reaching and captivating new audiences, especially those who have had no previous exposure to the arts.
