There are times when we see news or status updates regarding various issues of the world on social media sites which sometimes results in a rage. With detailed research, there have been many incidences where a biased source portrayed the news in a different way that blinded people’s judgment.
Facebook for a long time has remained enveloped with such controversies. To take severe action against it and make its platform a more viable one, the company is now taking a step to help its audience understand who’s behind the news in a better way.
In a statement released by the company, Facebook stated, “Several months ago, we announced our plan to label media outlets that are wholly or partially under the editorial control of their government, and today we’re starting to apply labels to those state-controlled media outlets. We’re providing greater transparency into these publishers because they combine the influence of a media organization with the strategic backing of a state, and we believe people should know if the news they read is coming from a publication that may be under the influence of a government.”
These labels will appear in the ‘Ad Library’ Page and Page Transparency section. In the US, the label will also start to appear on posts in ‘News Feed’ by next week.
