While the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier matches are going on, Qatar, the host country, is preparing itself for delivering the best experience of one of the greatest and most awaited sports event of the world. On the Independence Day of Qatar, the nation released the official logo of 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The official emblem of the 22nd edition of the Football World Cup is a loop-shaped structure representing the sand dunes of the Arab nations. The infinity shaped loop symbolizes the nature of the event which is never-ending and interconnected. The horizontally placed loop looks like an 8 representing the eight stadiums where the matches will be held across the nation.

The shape of the emblem looks like the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy with the infusion of traditional woollen shawl design which is used across the Arab nations during the winter seasons. Taking inspiration from the shawl, the emblem also gives away the season in which the event will be held, which is during the winters of November and December.

Along with it, the emblem also represents the mixture of culture by an amalgamation of traditional Arabic calligraphy in contemporary fonts. It also shows the adaptation of modernity by holding on to the ancestral culture.
