Sweets For Janmashtami

One of the oldest Hindu festive and the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birthday, Janmashtami is just around the corner. This year, Janmashtami falls on 11 August and devotees are preparing different kinds of offerings for their beloved deity. Yummy and easy to make, prepare these sweets for the festive, have a look:

1. Sabudana Kheer

One of the most loved Indian dessert made for every occasion, sabudana kheer is a sweet delicacy that’s hard to resist. For this, soak sabudana in water and in a large bowl, boil milk with the sugar and cardamoms. Add sabudana after draining the water, boil until swollen and translucent. Later on, add water, soak saffron in hot milk. Mix it and all of it to boiling milk. Boil and ready, garnish with saffron.

2. Panjiri

A traditional Prasad for Janmashtami, to prepare this, roast coriander seeds and grind them in a blender. Add ghee in a pan and sauté the powder in ghee until brown. Transfer the panjiri on a plate to cool and then add powdered sugar to it. Mix well and add dry fruits like chopped almonds, raisins, cashew nuts and mishri to it.

3. Rava Ladoo

Balls of sooji, rava ladoo is filled with aromatic and mouth melting textures. Add rava and grated coconut in a pan to roast and make it crunchy. Add cardamom powder and sugar, grind to get a fine powder. In a bowl, add milk to this powder along with roast nuts to bind it well. In a hot pan, add raisins, cashew and ghee, mix. Add this to the powder and knead it well to get a dough like mixture. Make small balls of rava, keep it in jars to eat it anytime!
