In a historic move, Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens is set to add another important chapter in the history of Indian cricket by becoming India’s first venue to host a day-night Test match.

The newly appointed BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly proposed this idea to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after Indian skipper Virat Kohli agreed to it. After a chaos in BCB, they have agreed to BCCI’s proposal and the first ever pink ball Test between India and Bangladesh will start from November 22.

The day night test will be a new experience not only for the spectators but also for the cricketers, as neither team has played a day-night Test before. The match will be played from 2 pm to 9 pm with a 20 minute tea break after the first session and a 40 minute supper break ahead of the final session.

While India tops the World Test Championship points table, Bangladesh will open their campaign in the upcoming series.

On the other hand, Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is banned for two years from all forms of cricket, one year of which is suspension as the player failed to report approaches of corrupt conduct.

The cricketer was found guilty of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. He is charged for not reporting approaches from an alleged Indian bookie twice during a tri-series between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January 2018 and once during the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Now, Shakib will return to international cricket only from 29 October 2020 and will be out of IPL 2020 and T20 World Cup 2020.
