India has a new badminton prodigy, its Lakshya Sen.

Beating China’s Weng Hong Yang in an absolute thriller match, Lakshya won his second successive BWF World Tour 100 title at the SaarLorLux Open that was held at Saarbrucken, Germany.

In a 59 minute game worthy of a final, both players went at it with all their might. The Indian badminton player overthrew Weng 17-21, 21-18 and 21-16 in the summit clash for his third successive singles title of the season.

With a good start, Lakshya was leading the match when the tables turned. He couldn’t sustain the pressure and lost the second set in the game. But, the player quickly got back to his best shots, clinching the match from Weng. After this win, the 18 year-old is a part of the top 50 BWF rankings.

The Uttarakhand boy has previously won the Belgian International challenge and Dutch Open Super Tour 100 in his last two outings. Also, Lakshya reached the Polish Open final this year. The world number 51, Lakshya won the Asian Junior championship, a silver at the Youth Olympics and a bronze at World Junior Championship last year, continuing to impress the senior circuit.

Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, Lakshya!
