Respect For Venus Williams

Australian Open 2021 saw a moment of huge respect on and off the court!

Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka paid homage to Venus Williams post her first round win in the first Grand Slam of the Year. Venus battled past fellow veteran Kirsten Flipkens and won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 at the Margaret Court Arena.

While World number three Naomi stated that Venus had an ‘aura’, her sister Serena hailed Venus as ‘such an inspiration’ after the 40-year-old swirled into the second round of the Australian Open. See the sweet video on the official account of the tournament on Twitter:

Meanwhile, the Canadian tennis star Naomi Osaka has also moved to the Australian Open’s second round after sweeping past Russia’s Anastasia Pavylyuchenkova in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2. Powerful moves and attacking serves!

On that note, Serena Williams also crushed Germany’s Laura Siegemund 6-1, 6-2 at the Melbourne Park for the first round of the Grand Slam, winning straight sets, she’s also advanced into the next round. See you on court. Serena!
