More than 100 days after the country was under lockdown to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism has announced that the centrally protected monuments will open from today!
In a tweet, the ministry announced this but one of the world’s seven wonders and India’s most attractive tourist destination, Taj Mahal in Agra will remain closed as it comes under a containment zone.
Some of the popular monuments reopening from 6 July includes Qutub Minar in Delhi, Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, Stupas in Sanchi, temples in Khajuraho, palaces in Mandu, rock shelters in Bhimbetka, and Ajanta and Ellora caves in Maharashtra.
To enter the premises of historical monuments, one must wear a face mask at all times, maintain social distancing and setting up of sanitizer dispensers. To visit a monument in another state, the travel quarantine guidelines of that state must be followed.
All tourists and visitors will undergo thermal screening and temperature check before entering the monument. The historical sites will be open from 7am onwards till sunset. People need to buy online tickets through QR scanning to make their visit totally contact free.
