Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, as many countries are opening up and sports culture is reviving with world-class events like La Liga and test matches taking place across the globe, Board of Control for Cricket in India has cancelled its upcoming tour to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe due to the threats related to the spread of Coronavirus.

Earlier, as soon the Government of India allowed the federations to start with the training of the athletes, BCCI had released the statement that the board will wait and formulate a blueprint rather than hassling towards resuming the training of players.

After breaking the news about the cancellation of the International tour, BCCI also stated: “The Office-Bearers have been taking note of advisories issued by the Government of India and the Board is committed to fully comply with the restrictions imposed and guidelines issued. The BCCI will continue to study and evaluate the changing situation.”

Team India was originally scheduled to travel to the island nation from 24 June 2020 for three ODIs and T20Is and to Zimbabwe for a series comprising three ODIs starting 22 August 2020.
