Misinformation and spread of fake news are a bane to the internet world. And despite some incredible steps, the world is not able to conquer it.

It became more of a concern when many ill-information about the pandemic which has enveloped us, started circulating in the world, creating havoc among the citizens.

To counter misinformation, the World Health Organization is working with the Government of United Kingdom to run a global campaign ‘Stop The Spread’ which aims to raise awareness about the risks of misinformation around COVID-19 and encourages people to double-check information with trusted sources such as WHO and national health authorities.

The campaign is being promoted in many countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Latin America to burst the myths surrounding the Coronavirus and ensure the safety of people.

Introducing this campaign, WHO has started providing information about the latest update on COVID-19 situation through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook Messenger, to keep people safe from fake forwards.
