Hiccups! One of the most annoying involuntary stimuli of the body arises due to quick ingestion of food and drinks. And though they are benign, no one likes the weird jerks that constantly occur.

They are short-lived but the moment it starts, we start looking for effective steps to kill it. However, it takes its own sweet time to die off but we have some home remedies to get rid of it soon.

Take a look:

1. Hold Your Breath:

Next time you get hiccups, try filling up your lungs fully with air and hold it for 10-20 seconds. If it doesn’t fade, repeat it and trust us it will be gone. You can also practise measured breathing. Inhale for five seconds and exhale slowly stretching it for five to ten seconds. It disrupts your respiratory system and cures hiccups.

2. Hug Your Knees:

When you get hiccups, it’s the time to hug your knees. Sit in a comfy position and bring your knees closer to your chest. Hold the posture for over two minutes. It helps in stopping the diaphragm spasm and relaxes your vocal cord.

3. Bend Down And Drink:

Try drinking water slowly from a tumbler while bending forward. Just pour a glass of water, bend forward and try drinking from the far end of the glass rim. This method is considered to be the most effective one, ensuring that hiccups don’t start again.
