The multiple time Grand Slam winner and a legendary name from the Tennis court, Roger Federer has dropped out from the Australian Open, 2021 which is scheduled to take place in Melbourne from 8 February.

This would be the first Grand Slam miss in Roger’s career as he is recovering from his two rounds of knee surgery and is preparing to be back for the rest of the 2021 season.

The Australian Open Tournament organisers confirmed the news via their social media page and the director of Australian Open (AO), Craig Tiley stated: “In the end Roger ran out of time to get himself ready for the rigours of a Grand Slam and he’s very disappointed he won’t be coming to Melbourne in 2021.”

The AO organisers are looking forward to welcoming the Swiss player at Melbourne in 2022. Federer has won the Australian Grand Slam for six times since his debut in 2000 and called it as ‘Happy Slam’, because of the cheering he received from the spectators.
