The most awaited trailer, ‘The Zoya Factor’ is out! Finally!

The movie is based on Anuja Chauhan’s novel by the same name, focusing on Zoya Solanki and how she turns out to be the lucky charm for the Indian cricket team.

The Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salman starrer movie has been all over the news. After a long wait, the trailer is released. And we were excited, but was it worth it?

The two minutes plus trailer, starts with people in the stadium chanting “Zoya Zoya” in the same way every time MS Dhoni walks into the stadium. The first glance of Sonam as Zoya is funny, where she resembles ‘Radhe Maa’ in red with her hands up.

Born on the same day of India winning the 1983 World Cup, Zoya’s father considers her as the reason for their win and wants her to be known for it globally. (Excuse me, what? High expectations!) Sonam’s real life uncle, Sanjay Kapoor  has played the role of her reel life father.

After showing us how Sonam’s character is a ‘Panoti’ everywhere, with a crumbling love and professional life, it shifts to the romance between Zoya and Nikhil. The trailer says “unlikely couple” and well, we couldn’t agree more. Infact, Zoya’s jokes are so bad that even Nikhil says “Ouch” in the trailer.

The trailer reaches heights of drama when Zoya is treated as a Goddess and lucky charm (although, that was at least expected after a look at the posters). But, being referred to as Zoya Mata and wearing only red outfits, takes it to a whole different level. They show too many incidents where players don’t get out, giving Zoya credits for it which somehow keeps the fun alive.

As a whole, the trailer was obvious and draggy, with Sonam’s patent smile. While, Dulquer is really good on screen and with that body, of course. The background music and camera work was the only other thing that worked for us, but the dialogues and punchlines have bad timings. With the expectations set too high, the crazy love, luck and cricket based trailer, we have started wondering what is left to see in the movie?

Also, a new poster is also out, shared by Dalquer it says, “Team India ka sirf ek hi lucky charm hai! Woh hai unka spirit, passion aur dedication unke game ke liye! Na hi Zoya Solanki. Aa raha #TheZoyaFactor trailer aaj.
