After suffering a halt of over two months due to nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19, the lifeline of Mumbai, Mumbai Railways is slowly coming back on track.

Effective from today, Western Railways and Central Railways have resumed their Mumbai Suburban services over Mainline and Harbour line but only for essential workers.

Western Railways also issued the SOP and protocols, that the essential staffs will have to follow to ensure their movement via the suburban trains, which focuses on social distancing and general hygiene along with the ambulance service available on every station.

 

In this phased resumption of railway services, which will not provide service to general passengers or public, 72 pairs of 12 car train between Churchgate and Dhanu road including eight pairs between Virar and Dahanu Road have started their movement for the approximately 1.25 lakh essential staffs as identified by the State Government.
