365 Days Since Pulwama Terror Attack

Last year, on this day, 14 February, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel were attacked by a vehicle borne suicide bomber on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Lethpora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 2500 Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF) jawans came under this attack, killing 40.

Nationwide protests erupted against the terror attack as the country bid goodbye to its bravehearts. In a few days, India was fuelled to take action against the Pulwama terror attack.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) made an attempt to strike at Pakistan’s military installations in Jammu and Kashmir. In the aerial attack, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman piloting a MiG-21 Bison aircraft was shot down by Pakistan’s F-16. His aircraft crashed but the parachute landed in PoK where the IAF pilot was captivated by the Pakistani Army. Under international pressure, he was released safe and sound. India welcomed the hero with open arms after two days of captivation.

It’s been a year since the Pulwama terror attack and the return of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman to our soil, but India will never forget the martyrdom of the security personnel who were killed in the terror attack.

Paying tribute to the jawaans, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted about the Pulwama terror attack.

Tributes to the brave martyrs who lost their lives in the gruesome Pulwama attack last year. They were exceptional individuals who devoted their lives to serving and protecting our nation. India will never forget their martyrdom.
