One of the prestigious tournaments of tennis, the US Open gets a nod and clear signal from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to hold the championship from 31 August to 13 September but behind closed doors due to COVID-19.

The US Open will take care of safety and protection of the players by including robust testing, additional cleaning, extra locker room space, transportation and dedicated accommodation. In a statement, the US Open committee has stated about the tremendous responsibility it will take to host one of the first global sporting events in these challenging times and they hope to mitigate all potential risks.

More details on the arrangements for the US Open will be announced later today. Also, top tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have expressed concerns about attending the New York tournament. The fear to attend the tournament in Queens, NYC is heightened but still has gotten a yes from Cuomo.
