Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 39 year-old will hang up his boots after an illustrious 18 years long career!
A right-hand batsman and medium pacer, Shane Watson has been part of the best cricketing teams, winning two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups and two ICC Champions Trophy titles. Retiring from international cricket in 2016, he played in the IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings which marked his last match on 3 November.
Putting a curtain down to his professional cricket journey, Shane Watson feels crazily lucky to have lived out his dream. Something only a few are blessed with!
In a video message, the Australian announced his retirement with a heavy heart, glistening eyes but the brightest smile. Saying goodbye to all forms of cricket, Watson started out his career by playing against South Africa in an ODI match in 2002 and has been unstoppable since then.
Played 59 Tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is with over 10,000 runs and 300 wickets at the international level, Shane Watson bids adieu to the game with some cracking records under his name, both with the bat and ball.
