In the absenteeism of a host, the show poised itself on a flow of actors and characters, which included tennis star Serena Williams, old-timer actors like Helen Mirren, singer Jennifer Lopez and comedian Trevor Noah, among many others. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performed their A Star Is Born track at the event, together with shows by other nominees for Best Original Song.
