Space walks are physically taxing and mentally challenging, like taking an exam while running a marathon. So, astronauts Christina and Jessica stepped outside the International Space Station (ISS) to replace a faulty battery charger and set their suits to battery power mode.

The spacewalk was originally scheduled for five and a half hours, but the crew successfully completed their main task of replacing the failed power controller. However, the mission was extended to more than seven hours for the astronauts to perform a few additional jobs.

Koch and Meir’s contribution is being celebrated, for leaving their mark on history and becoming an inspiration to women and girls across America.

Also, this spacewalk is another milestone towards making space more available to everyone.
