NASA is set for the first human spaceflight from the soil of the States since 2011.
Two Astronauts, Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley are part of the historic ‘Launch America’ mission. On 30 May, they will ride a privately built spacecraft and rocket to orbit, marking the first launch of humans from USA soil since a decade.
Barring poor weather, the launch will take from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The spaceflight will be bound for the International Space Station (ISS), but it’s true destination is the annals of space history. Instead of wearing fluorescent orange ensembles, the astronauts will wear SpaceX’s monochrome suit inside the Crew Dragon spacecraft.
Called as the Commercial Crew Program, the mission will have a pre launch special performance by singer Kelly Clarkson. This mission will provide data on the performance of the Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft, ground systems, docking and landing operations.
