The history of Women’s suffrage is full of ups and downs exposing a hideous truth of society with some brave women fighting for their basic right.

Even in the most developed country, the United States, which got its independence in the year 1776, women were barred from exercising their basic right to vote which changed around 100 years ago.

On the 100 years of ratification of Constitution amendment which granted the right to women to cast their vote and play their part in society by choosing their leaders, the First Lady of United States, Melania Trump has announced an art project ‘Building the Movement: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 years of Women’s Suffrage’.

The project will showcase the artwork by students from grade three to grade twelve from across the nation and its territories.

Honouring the centennial anniversary of the 19 amendment of the US Constitution, Melania emphasized on the knowledge of history among children as she stated, “For decades, women leaders lobbied, marched, and protested for equality and their right to vote in the United States. It is my hope that this project will both support and expand the important conversations taking place on equality and the impact of peaceful protests, while encouraging children to engage in the history behind this consequential movement in their own home states.”

Melania’s social media post also provides information about how to enrol and submit the artwork as it reads: “Children can submit their drawing of a Suffragist, Suffrage Symbol, or Suffrage Event by July 6th & the winners will have their drawings featured in an exhibit that will launch this August! #BeBest”, along with the link where the drawings or sketches are to be submitted.
