Greta Finally Sets Her Foot On Land

Today at the port of New York City, near the iconic Statue of Liberty, world finally saw the young game changer and climate activist, Greta Thunberg sailing up the Hudson Bay after fifteen days. United Nations welcomed Greta by sailing 17 boats, each with a different sustainable development goals written on it.

 

 

The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres welcomed the youth icon praising her for remarkable move in creating an awareness among the people regarding the climate crisis. Calling her move to be an inspiration for others to participate in the upcoming UN Climate Summit to be held in September, Antonio wrote, “Welcome to New York, @gretathunberg!

The determination and perseverance shown during your journey should embolden all of us taking part in next month’s #ClimateAction Summit.

We must deliver on the demands of people around the world and address the global climate crisis.”

 

 

Greta, earlier this month started her journey in the North Atlantic sea from Plymouth, England to attend the UN Summit. Ditching the conventional option like airplanes, which pollute the upper layer of the atmosphere, resulting in ozone depletion, Greta chose to sail her way in Malizia II yacht. The yacht which is fitted with solar panels and hydro-generators for the power supply, left no carbon footprint in the environment.

 

 

Throughout her journey, Thunberg kept the world updated through her social media posts, sharing the beautiful moments of her voyage.

 

 

Upon her arrival, Greta was welcomed by a huge crowd of people who were gathered at the port, hours before her entry in the New York City.

Thanking all her supporters, 16-year-old activist announced her further plan of action which comprises of obviously a few days of rest and a protest outside the UN.

 

 

Greta Thunberg became a renowned name after her protest outside the Swedish Parliament proceeding, with which, the strike for the climate crisis issues under the name of ‘Friday for the Future’ was started. Her bold, blunt and to the point words on climate change in press conferences and public gatherings has received appreciation from the world. Greta has become a teenage icon by participating in many world climate conferences. Earlier this month, Greta was also featured on the British Vogue.
