Google has unveiled an upgraded fitness app, Google Fit which will use smartphone camera capabilities to measure respiration and heart rate. Coming on Pixel phones, this app already uses smartphone sensors to figure out how far people walk or how many calories they have burned.

Rolling in new features in Google Pixel, the same sensors and software that helps us click stunning photos or automatically adapt streaming video will now be used to detect someone’s chest moving as they breathe as well as calculating their respiration rate.

Health and wellness going a notch higher with Google Fit, just place a fingertip on the lens and you’ll know it all. With this information, the app will let users set activity or health goals and weave in artificial intelligence to coach them about how to achieve objectives.
