The first ODI match of India against New Zealand in a three days series commenced today and though Men in Blue put in a lot of effort with some record-breaking performances, New Zealand players came out as a winner by four wickets.

In Seddon Park, Hamilton, the Kiwi team chose to field first upon winning the toss round while the Indian cricketers went heavy on their batting line, breaking one record after another. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli registered his 58 half-centuries gracefully while Shreyas Iyer hit his maiden century in the ODI.

In the second inning, after suffering a few jitters in the beginning, the New Zealand team recovered quickly and had a good chase of 348 runs in 48.1 overs with a 7.22 run rate. Ross Taylor performed extra-ordinarily well by going for a century and hitting 10 boundaries in the match.

The second match of the series will be held on 8 February at Eden Park, Auckland.

Well, though Men in Blue met a defeat,  the boys performed really well marching into the finale of the Under 19 World Cup finals after defeating the team of Pakistan. Restricting the batting game of Pakistan in 43.1 overs, the partnership of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena was remarkable which the Pakistan team couldn’t break and India scored 176 runs in just 35.2 overs without losing any wickets.

The U19 team of India will face the winner of Bangladesh versus New Zealand on Sunday in the finals.
