New Zealand Women’s Cricket Captain Amy Satterthwaite has taken a break from her cricket career and will not be participating in the Women’s World T20 Tournament of next year in Australia, for all the good reasons.

Expecting her first child with her teammate Lea Tahuhu, Amy took to her social media handle sharing the exciting news of her pregnancy which is due early next year. She wrote, “Lea and I are thrilled to share that I am expecting our first child early in the new year. Words cannot describe how excited we are about this new chapter #babysatterhuhu #jan2020”.

Satterthwaite and Tahuhu are together since 2010. After the legalization of same-sex marriage in New Zealand, the couple announced their engagement in 2014. They finally tied the knot in March 2017.

Mommy-to-be Tahuhu, responded to the news by retweeting her partner’s post, captioning it as “And then there were 3 ”.

Along with the couple the official social media account of New Zealand’s Women’s Cricket is also thrilled with the news and shared their excitement, writing, “Exciting news for two of our own! #babysatterhuhu”.

Other good news is that the cricketer will be the first player to benefit from new contract conditions of the Cricket Board of New Zealand that guarantees her core salary while on maternity leave which was passed earlier this August.
