Aero India Show provides one of the best platforms to the Indian aviation and aerospace business. The show is held once every two years and facilitates the Indian aerospace industry as well as other allied service providers to display their products and services to the forte audience. Started in 1996, this will be the 12th Aero Show to be hosted in Yelahanka Air Force Station Bengaluru.
The Aero India Show 2019 was launched today by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on a grave note. On Tuesday, one pilot was killed and two others ejected to safety after two aircraft of the Air Force’s aerobatic team Surya Kiran crashed near the airbase at Yelahanka, a conurbation of Bengaluru.
Other representatives, exhibitors, corporates, government planners and military brass from across the world were present at the opening of the annual five-day event in the city.
Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy emphasized Bengaluru’s presence as the design, research and production hub of aerospace and defence in the nation.
With its tagline, ‘Runway to a Billion Opportunities’, the show is marked at reinforcing business in the international aviation sector and providing a platform to showcase India’s aeronautical innovations. It is to be held from 20-24th February 2019.
This year’s Aero Show will see 363 exhibitors from around the world. There will also be 50 new aircraft on show. This is the highest number of aircraft exhibited at the event so far. The Ministry of Defence has lined up programmes for Start-Ups Day, Women’s Day, Daily Students’ Day, Drone Olympics and photography competitions as sideshows to make it a co-operating affair.
‘In the air display section, so far, 31 aircraft from both defence and civil aviation are to take part. Prominent among them are Saras, Rafale, Hansa, Embrar, AN 132, Airbus 330 etc. For static display, we have confirmation and registration from 22 aircraft,’ Air Commodore Ravuri Sheetal said.
