Cartographies of the Inner World at 47-A Khotachiwadi
The next show at 47 A in Khotachiwadi. It is a group exhibition opening on 15 May and titled ‘Cartographies of the Inner World’
Cartographies of the Inner World is Bangalore’s KYNKYNY’s debut show in Mumbai and will bring together seven distinct feminine voices—artists Dimpy Menon, Rakhee Shenoy, Veenita Chendvankar, Payal Rokade, Bakula Nayak, Priyanka Aelay, and Nidhi Mariam Jacob—to explore the resonant and diverse landscapes of the internal and external worlds. The collection serves as a visual record of both the mundane and the extraordinary, mapping out the shared spaces of dreams, desires, and our deep-rooted bond with nature.
The art show highlights several compelling narratives:
- Surrealist Perspectives: Rakhee Shenoy, Veenita Chendvankar, and Payal Rokade redefine linear histories through graphic compositions and poetic fusions of myth and memory.
- Symbolic Harmony: Dimpy Menon’s fluid bronze sculptures and Bakula Nayak’s mixed-media works on vintage documents capture moments of grace and the beauty of personal history.
- Natural Mythologies: The lush, botanical-focused works of Nidhi Mariam Jacob and Priyanka Aelay invite viewers into the hidden mysteries of the organic world.
Individually and collectively, these artists draw attention to those necessary pauses in everyday life where one can commune with oneself. We believe this dialogue between the artists’ inner landscapes and the viewer’s own experience will offer a profound opportunity for reflection.
About 47-A
47-A is a venue for art, craft, and design. It is set in one of our favourite places: the beautiful Khotachi Wadi, one of the original villages of Bombay, in the culturally historic area of Girgaum, rich in diversity and inclusiveness. 47-A Khotachi Wadi is a 19th-century Portuguese-style house, and its ground floor is now our gallery.
