About the Exhibition:-
“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.” – Rudyard Kipling
Every life, every place, everyone has a story. One, two, many stories. It is the weaving of one’s stories that what enables history to be made, built and told.
Taking on from this beautiful thought and quote by the renowned writer and poet Rudyard Kipling, who himself was born in Mumbai, still in times of British India and profoundly influenced by its culture, nature and people, we draw the simple but so profound, context and concept for this two part exhibition, set to open in April (first part) and July (second part) at the new space of Akara Contemporary in Mumbai, India.
The exhibition aims to show artists that through their artistic practice or a specific artwork intend to tell a story. One could argue that all art tells stories – true; but with the intertwining of the artworks shown the idea is to try and contribute to the history of this gallery using artworks as story-telling artefacts.
