India | 3rd August, 2026: Woolmark today announced that applications are officially open for the next cycle of the International Woolmark Prize (IWP), one of fashion’s most respected awards celebrating emerging design talent and innovation in Australian Merino wool.

For more than seven decades, the International Woolmark Prize has helped launch the careers of some of the industry’s most influential designers from Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, and Valentino Garavani to Rahul Mishra and Gabriela Hearst, providing a global platform for creative excellence, innovation and craftsmanship.

As the Prize enters its next chapter, Woolmark is continuing its commitment to discovering and nurturing exceptional talent from across the global fashion industry. Recognising the diverse pathways through which designers build their careers today, the application criteria has been broadened to welcome candidates whose experience has been gained within established fashion brands and organisations, alongside those who have built independent labels.

The change reflects the increasingly varied nature of creative careers in fashion, where many designers develop significant expertise leading collections, driving product innovation and shaping brand direction before launching their own ventures—or without intending to do so at all.

Applications are now open across eligible global markets. Following the application period, selected applicants will participate in a series of discovery and incubation opportunities designed to support their creative and commercial development, while gaining access to industry expertise, mentorship and the global network of Woolmark.

The International Woolmark Prize continues to champion the next generation of fashion leaders while showcasing the versatility, innovation and natural performance benefits of Australian Merino wool.

Applications are now open.
