The World Health Organization in its recent brief of COVID-19 pandemic stated that the transmission of COVID-19 can occur airborne in health care settings where specific medical procedures generate very small droplets and in a poor ventilated room.

The new report was presented after several scientists urged the Organization to reconsider the mode of transmission of the new virus with evidence supporting aerosol transmission. Earlier, WHO had reported that the COVID-19 spreads if an individual comes in direct, indirect, or close contact with infected people through infected secretions such as saliva and respiratory secretions.

The COVID-19 infection primarily causes respiratory illness, however in some cases it arises underlying health conditions turning the infection fatal. Along with the new report, WHO again emphasized on social distancing, wearing masks in public places and following hygienic steps to stay safe during the pandemic time.
