Pancham Nishad’s 30th Anniversary Calendar Continues with ‘Vartamaan’, Bringing Three Distinct Musical Lineages Together in Mumbai

MUMBAI, India — Continuing a landmark year of cultural programming to mark 30 years in the performing arts, Pancham Nishad announces the return of its acclaimed concert series, Vartamaan. Scheduled for 3 September 2026 at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi (6:00 PM onwards), the evening will feature three of the country’s most formidable young classical talents: Aniruddh Aithal, Tejaswini Vernekar, and Siddhartha Belmannu.

The Evolution of Vartamaan

While platforms like Aarohi and Ragadari Gen Next have served as discovery grounds for emerging debuts, and recent series revivals like Morning Raga restored traditional concert timings, Vartamaan holds a distinct place in Pancham Nishad’s legacy. First launched in 2002, Vartamaan (meaning “the present”) was conceived by founder Shashi Vyas as an endorsement of musicians who represent the present strength and immediate future of Hindustani Classical Music.

Whereas the inaugural 2002 edition featured established icons such as Ustad Rashid Khan, Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, and Pandit Satish Vyas, the 2026 edition reflects a deliberate, modern shift: placing young, rising musicians directly into prime-time, proscenium spotlights.

The Featured Maestros

• Aniruddh Aithal: Introduced to classical music at age 10, Aniruddh commenced his training under Smt. Geetha Garud Prithviraj and currently refines his craft under Dr. Ashok Huggannavar. Supported by several prestigious scholarships, his singing is celebrated for combining disciplined technical precision with expressive, emotive nuance.
• Tejaswini Digamber Vernekar: An ‘A’ graded artist of All India Radio and a Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Gold Medallist currently pursuing her PhD, Tejaswini brings over two decades of rigorous training under Vidushi Jayalakshmi Bhat, Vidushi Lakshmi B. Hegde, and Pt. G. R. Bhat of Balegadde. Known for her artistic maturity, technical finesse, and deep aesthetic sensitivity, she stands out as a distinguished voice of her generation.
• Siddhartha Belmannu: A musical prodigy fluent across three octaves, Siddhartha was initially trained in Carnatic classical music before studying under Sri P. R. Manjunath. For the past 13 years, he has undergone rigorous Gurukul-style training under Pt. Vinayak Torvi ji (doyen of the Gwalior and Kirana gharanas), blending centuries-old lineage with a distinct, contemporary musical identity.
