Instagram released two new features to eliminate cyber bullying, this Tuesday. One of the leading social media platforms was under huge pressure to deal with bullying issues. The Rethink tool is an AI-powered feature, which would identify the offensive remarks and ask the users to reconsider before posting it.
Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, said, ‘This intervention gives people a chance to reflect and undo their comment and prevents the recipient from receiving the harmful comment notification.’

In addition to the above feature, Instagram also rolled out Restrict mode. This would give the users more control over what can be seen under their posts. Restricted account’s comment will be delivered as a notification to the user. Mosseri explained, ‘You can choose to make a restricted person’s comments visible to others by approving their comments. Restricted people won’t be able to see when you’re active on Instagram or when you’ve read their direct messages’.
However, these features have their own repercussions and Instagram is currently trying to refine its anti-bullying features.
