Obama Praises His Former Team

Former US President, Barack Obama, posted an Open Letter on his Twitter handle, signed by former members of his administration that rebuked racism in American politics. The letter, co-signed by 149 African Americans, appeared as an op-ed in The Washington Post on Friday.

While sharing it on Twitter, Obama praised the former team of his presidential term, writing, “I’ve always been proud of what this team accomplished during my administration. But more than what we did, I’m proud of how they’re continuing to fight for an America that’s better”.

The letter reads, “We stand with Congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib, as well as all those currently under attack by President Trump, along with his supporters and his enablers”. The letter came out in response to the continuous racist attacks of President Donald Trump on four Congresswomen of colour. The members have called it a un-American act and a threat to democracy. President Trump’s act was condemned by many Congress members earlier and also led to an immediate union of the house.
