U.S. rapper and pop singer, Nicki Minaj said in a statement on Tuesday that she was pulling out of a Jeddah World Fest concert, in Saudi Arabia, next week because she wants to support women’s rights and LGBTQ community.

Earlier, Minaj was listed to headline Jeddah World Fest concert on 18 July, but was criticised on social media, for the same. Later, she decided to no longer move forward with her scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest.

The U.S based Human Rights Foundation (HRF), applauded Minaj and other performers for backing off from the show on their Twitter handle. They write, ‘THANK YOU @NICKIMINAJ for cancelling your #SaudiArabia concert and for supporting LGBTQ & women’s rights. Millions of people around the world are inspired by your devotion to human rights and human dignity. We at @HRF salute you & are grateful for your leadership #freeloujain’.
