Sunil Gavaskar, known as ‘Sunny’ or ‘Little Master’, turns 70 today, and his social media is flooded with wishes from across the globe. The legendary player was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team against West Indies. He is regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in Indian Test history.
Former Indian batsman is known for his passion for the game. He was the first to score 10,000 runs in test cricket. Sunil was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1980 for his successful International career, representing Team India. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a test cricket series played between India and Australia, was jointly instituted in his and Allan Border’s honour.
Post-retirement, Gavaskar served as the chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee. He is known as one of the finest analyst and commentator of Indian cricket team.
