At Prince Louis’ christening, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s styling were impeccable. But there was more to the duchesses’ outfits than what meets the eye. To celebrate the baby prince’s big day, both mom and aunt paid extra notice to their attire and here’s what it all means.

Doting mother Kate wore a dress designed by Alexander McQueen, a prime in her royal closet. The cream V-neck frock featured slightly puffed shoulders and it pecked in at the waist to highlight the Duchess of Cambridge’s slim frame. Kate decorated her head with a 1940s-style hat by Jane Taylor and wore pearl earrings in the shape of a flower. Overall, she nailed the look.

Kate Middleton

Middleton has always been loyal to McQueen for such occasions. The Duchess wore McQueen dresses for both of the older children’s christenings — for Prince George, a pale yellow ruffled coat dress in 2013 and a white coat dress for Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015.

Meghan Markle

As for Kate’s new sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex opted for a meek olive green Ralph Lauren and a matching Stephen Jones hat.  This is the second time that the new royal, who typically sticks to neutral-hued costume, to opt for an unusual colour. Meghan once again opted for a boat neck dress, which is soon becoming Meghan’s signature silhouette in the past few months. Going for a full-on monochromatic moment, she added matching suede Manolo Blahnik pumps.

The Royal family never fails to impress us.
