To control reckless honking at traffic signals, Mumbai Police has decided to experiment with a genius initiative called ‘The Punishing Signal’.
According to ‘The Punishing Signal’ initiative the police have installed decibel meters on top of signal poles at few parts of the city to check the noise pollution level. As soon as the decibel level goes beyond the 85dB mark, the red signal will restart the original timer of 90 seconds. The signal won’t turn green unless the decibel level goes below 85dB.
‘Honk More Wait More’ is the tagline and hashtag used for this initiative that has gone viral on the Internet. Netizens are coming out to support this amazing step taken by the Mumbai Police. In fact, Bengaluru and Hyderabad Police are going to adopt this initiative to curb honking at signals and bring discipline on the road.
