The city of dreams, Mumbai woke up to heavy rains, led to waterlogging and people wading through waist-deep water in low lying areas. From buses to shops, many structures have submerged in water, due to Mumbai receiving more than 230 mm of rain.

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has tweeted and asked all the residents to stay indoors with the rain just increasing in the upcoming two days, the weather department sounding a red alert.

Lifeline of Mumbai, the local train service in the central, western and harbour lines has been completely stopped. All offices expect emergency services to remain shut and suitable warnings have been sent by BMC to the coastal security agencies and disaster management department.

Heavy rain overnight has caused a landslide on the Western Express Highway in Kandivali and 26 areas in Mumbai have reported flooding. High tide is expected and BMC has warned people from going anywhere near the beach or low lying areas.
