Racism is an evil of society which has kept us encapsulated since forever. And an ugly side of it was unveiled in the George Floyd incident.
And as the people are gathering on streets protesting against it, lending their voice to human rights, more victims of racial discrimination are coming out, speaking about their experiences.
Coming from the cricket arena, Daren Sammy, the West Indies player has recently revealed that he had heard several slurs directed towards his race and colour while playing in the IPL, the meaning of which, he discovered recently.
Daren also posted a video, without mentioning any name, where he asked the individuals involved in it to reach him out and tell whether the racist undertone words have any alternative meanings and were called out of love.
He posted the clip on his official Instagram handle with tags like ‘black and proud’, ‘black and confident’, ‘stop racism’ and more.
The cricketer also shared the same post on his Twitter account, which received a nod from legendary player Chris Gayle who wrote, “It’s never too late to fight for the right cause or what you’ve experienced over the years! So much more to your story, @darensammy88. Like I said, it’s in the game!!” encouraging Daren to fight for the right.
