The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup which was scheduled to take place in India later this year has been postponed.

The Bureau of FIFA council after assessing the effect of Coronavirus took the decision to reschedule the match for the next year from 17 February to 7 March.

Relaxing news came in when the council announced that there will be no change in the eligibility criteria. Hence, the players who are born on or after 1 January 2003 and on or before 31 December 2005 will be part of the team.

As the news came in for the postponement, India kickstarted its preparation for hosting the match after a halt due to the COVID-19 outbreak and finalised the name of five cities where the matches will take place.

Apart from it, the Under 20 Women’s World Cup dates have also been changed. Hosted by Costa Rica and Panama, the matches will be played from 20 January to 6 February 2021.
