Creating history, Dominic Thiem defeated Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals of the US Open to reach the semi-finals for the first time. Winning straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, he became the first Austrian ever to reach the last four at the Flushing Meadows.

All set for the semis, Thiem will face 2019 US Open finalist, Daniil Medevedev to reach the summit clash. Pumped up to give it his best, the second-seed will do all he has to get one step closer to the trophy. In the second semis, Germany’s Alexander Zverev will go against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta to reach the finals.

 

Coming to women’s singles at the US Open, Victoria Azarenka is ready to face Serena Williams in the semi-finals. This will be the 38 year-old’s 24 Grand Slam honour while Victoria’s first since 2013. Rolling past Belgian player Elise Mertens, Victoria Azarenka gained her entry into the last four in 73 minutes, winning 6-1 6-0.

Nervous and excited for a blockbuster semis, Victoria will face Serena Williams, the player who has been the finalist of the US Open for three straight years. But, in the quarterfinals, Azarenka showed her power moves and she’s here to stay!
