Black Panther: First Comic Book Nominated For Best Picture At The Oscars ‘19

‘Black Panther’ has made antiquity as the first superhero movie to receive an Oscar’s nomination in the Best Picture category.

Marvel Studios film Black Panther is creating history. Former it became the first ever superhero movie to make it to Golden Globe Awards 2019 nominations and now alighting among the best picture choice list in Oscars 2019.

The film counted six other nominations for Costume Design, Original Score, Production Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Original Song as well. However, director Ryan Coogler did not make it into the slate of directing contenders. In the Best Picture category, the film is pocked against The Favourite, Vice, Roma, Green Book, A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Black Panther, set in an illusory African republic of Wakanda, became a massive hit. The film, highlighting Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Forrest Whitaker, Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright among others, received applause from both the critics and the spectators for its authentic depiction of African culture. Released by Marvel, it also the first superhero film to feature a largely black cast.

The film also went on to earn the best-aggregated notch on Rotten Tomatoes of any live-action superhero film, running past The Dark Knight and Iron Man.
