At the recently concluded Beena Kannan, Bridal Show 2018 at held Bhaskareeyam Convention Centre, Ernakulam, the designer showcased bridal attires that emphasised the 21st-century brides; the bride who is confident, and courageous enough to break the conventional rules, yet traditional at heart.
The spectators could see a never before seen collection of Kancheepuram sarees,white wedding sarees, lehengas, gowns,lachas,anarkalis and jackets on the fashion ramp; adorned by supermodels and led by Bollywood actors Raveena Tandon and Shriya Saran. There were also Seematti’s customer models who strutted the runway with an ethnic touch.
The designer portrayed the apparel collections in a storytelling format. In Beena Kannan Bridal Show, presented a storyteller ‘The Mystic’ who mentions the mesmerizing beauty Niloufer, daughter-in-law of Nizam of Hyderabad. The story revolves around Niloufer; the designerBeenaKannan and the heroine, Mannath who represents the customer. The concept of the video connecting with the show theme symbolically was an exciting multisensory treat for the audience, enhanced by rose petal showers, the fragrance of myrrh and soulful Sufi music.
The mood board of the show focussed on the architectural concepts of the Sheesh Mahal with its Turkish aesthetic sensibilities, royal jewellery theme, Jamawar, Mughal and floral designs. Beena Kannan led the creative team at Seematti’s’ Cuts and Fits’, the force behind the designer collection to showcase the collections after 6 months of dedicated efforts.
There were royal-themed sarees with antique, golden and silver zari; tissue shimmer sarees; pastel silver sarees with antique gold jari; borderless sarees, Jamawar designer sarees customised for Kerala’s brides. The colour palette included tones of dark maroons, bright pinks, reds, greens and of course, the colour of the year 2019 – living coral. The prices of the collection range from Rs.3000 up to Rs.5 lakhs.
Beena Kannan addressed the crowd, “Seematti has presented a complete array fit for a full-fledged fashion house. The credit goes to my design boutique, Cuts and Fits at Seematti, the creative team worked with true dedication for months. We also offer bespoke white gowns, white wedding sarees, lace sarees, raw silk sarees, velvet sarees, lehengas and anarkalis this wedding season.”
