Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Payal Jain and Poonam Bhagat put a fashionable
spin and an innovative modern twist to Khadi as they showcased
ensembles in colours of white, black, indigo and mustard for the
coming season at a interesting fashion event titled Khadi-
Transcending Boundaries on 24 April. The show was a collaborative
effort by Fashion Design Council of India and KVIC (Khadi Village
Industries Commission) which promotes the country’s handspun iconic
fabric of freedom ‘Khadi’ at various platforms. The show. staged for a
select and distinguished audience of politicians, bureaucrats, fashion
entrepreneurs and international buyers, was held at the NSIC Grounds
in the capital as a part of the SME Convention 2018 hosted by Ministry
of Small & Medium Enterprises.
Giriraj Singh, Union Minister MSME was extremely appreciative of the
FDCI for curation of this fashion show. Khadi’s celebration had
eminent personalities like Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of
Minority Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi, MP Lok Sabha, Prahlad Kakkar, Ad
Guru, Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chairman KVIC, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda,
Secretary MSME applauding the line of stylish khadi outfits on the
ramp even as FDCI head Sunit Sethi committed that FDCI will strive to
promote Khadi through multi-faceted and meaningful drives which will
bring to the fore its true potential and catapult it in the global
arena.”
