If Indian modern cricket is known by one name, it has to be former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who turns a year older today!
Celebrating his 39 birthday, Dhoni is a renowned global sports icon and one of the most successful captains of the national cricket team. Popularly called as ‘Captain Cool’, the wicketkeeper-batsman is being awaited by the fans who want to see him wear the blue jersey one more time.
Starting out as a teammate of the Indian squad in 2005, Dhoni is the only batsman to clinch the World Cup with a sixer, a shot that will always be etched in our memory!
Mahi is the only captain that led the team to win all the three ICC trophies, including 2007 T20I World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He has played 332 matches for India, the most international games as a captain. Also, he holds the record for the highest individual ODI score of 183 as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
One of the greatest captains of all time and an inspiration to many, happy birthday Mahendra Singh Dhoni!
