Bayern Munich has signed attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho from FC Barcelona on a season-long loan deal which includes an option to buy him.
FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have come to an agreement about Coutinho’s loan. The German side will pay 8.5 million Euros to take the Brazilian footballer on loan while the option to buy him stands at 120 million Euros. The club will also pay Coutinho’s wages for the duration of the loan spell.
The 27 year-old footballer was in the crowd for Barcelona’s La Liga defeat against Athletic Bilbao on 16 August. He joined from Liverpool in a 142 million Euros deal in January 2018. Despite scoring 21 goals in 76 appearances for the Spanish giants, he has fallen short of expectations and has been linked with several clubs this summer.
He was included as part of a bid by FC Barcelona to re-sign Neymar from Paris St-Germain, the Spanish club offered 100million Euros plus Coutinho for the forward. Tottenham ended their interest in a loan deal for Coutinho earlier this month, while he was also linked with moves to Arsenal and back to Liverpool.
