Mahesh Ghattamaneni, popularly known as Mahesh Babu, is one of the finest and most popular actors of the Telugu film industry. He is celebrating his birthday today as he turns 44. He is ruling Tollywood from two decades, giving unforgettable performances, one after the other.

The younger son of veteran Telugu actor Krishna, Mahesh made his cameo as a child artist in ‘Needa’ (1979), at the age of four, and acted in eight other films too. But, he made his debut as a lead actor with ‘Rajakumarudu’ (1999), winning the State Nandi Award for Best Male Debut.

Mahesh received his breakthrough with the supernatural drama, ‘Murari’ (2001). He went on to act in commercially successful films like ‘Arjun’, ‘Athadu’, ‘Businessman’, ‘Pokiri’, ‘Dookudu’, ‘Srimanthudu’ and ‘Seetham Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’, which are in the list of the highest grossing Telugu films.

Till date, he has won eight Nandi Awards, five Filmfare Awards, three Cine MAA Awards, three South Indian International Movie Awards and one International Indian Film Academy Award.

Moreover, he is on a signing spree, collaborating with filmmakers from other languages. Earlier this year, he had only one release ‘Maharshi’ and had also announced his upcoming film ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’.

In his upcoming film, Mahesh will play the role of Major Ajay Krishna, co-starring Vijayashanti, Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna and Rajendra Prasad in pivotal roles.
