Star Indian wrestler, Vinesh Phogat won her third consecutive gold in women’s 53 kg category at the Poland Open held in Warsaw, Poland. She defeated the local wrestler, Roksana, 3-2 to take the gold home. Earlier, Vinesh beat Sofia Mattson of Sweden, the Rio Olympics bronze medallist, in the quarterfinals of this international tournament

This is the third gold medal for the 24-year-old in last two months. She stood atop the podium at the Grand Prix of Spain and at the Yasar Dogu International at Istanbul, Turkey last month.

She took on her Instagram too, writing, “Always great to come up against strong wrestlers! It allows me to really test myself, push my body to the limit, and helps in identifying areas to strengthen! Good challenging couple of days of wrestling at the #PolandOpen, happy to finish with a 🥇 Life as a 53 kg wrestler has been pretty good so far, now onwards and upwards 🇮🇳💪🙌”

Former national hockey captain Viren Rasquinha, who is involved with Olympic Gold Quest, congratulated Vinesh on her success.

 

 

The Sports Authority of India also congratulated her.
