Mumbai: Sept 02, 2026 – For evenings that begin with dinner and end much later, The Powder Room, opening in Bandra on September 3, brings together food, cocktails, music and conversation, creating a setting where dinner naturally gives way to a more lively evening.
Located in Mansionz One at Linking Road, Bandra West, The Powder Room is a new dinner and cocktail club with a MediterrAsian menu by Chef Sahil Singh, a signature bar programme by the Anonymous Food Labs team, the team behind The Lair (New Delhi) and AABBCC, Afro jazz music and a series of guest rituals designed to make the evening feel social and unhurried. The experience brings together sharing food, cocktails and music, creating a relaxed setting for long dinners, drinks and conversation.
The menu takes familiar Mediterranean and Asian ingredients, flavours and techniques and brings them together in unexpected ways. Designed for sharing, it features tapas, ensalada, robata, flammkuchen, pasta, plancha and sides, with dishes that move between the two influences while retaining a clear sense of their individual character. The result is a menu that is varied, layered and designed to work alongside the cocktails and the pace of the evening.
Speaking about the concept, Avik Chatterjee, Director & CEO, Speciality Restaurants Limited, says, “The Powder Room is built around the idea of bringing the Mediterranean and Asia together through food, cocktails, design and music. It has been the result of a year-long journey of research, exploration and understanding of these two food cultures, which ultimately led us to introducing a first of its kind MediterAsian cuisine to India. Africa sits naturally between these worlds and has historically connected them through trade, ingredients and cultural exchange. We wanted to interpret that relationship in a contemporary way and create a destination where every element feels connected, layered and immersive.”
A MediterrAsian Menu Designed for the Table
At the centre of The Powder Room is a MediterrAsian menu by Chef Sahil Singh, bringing together the character of Mediterranean cooking with Asian ingredients, techniques and flavours. Designed for sharing, the menu moves across crudos, tapas, pasta, plancha, flammkuchen and robata.
The tapas section brings together playful combinations such as Truffle Potato Mille Feuille with smoked wasabi crème fraîche and salsa bravas, Blazing Avocado, Powder Bread with fresh black truffles and Sichuan pepper mornay, Duck Shawarma Gyoza with confit duck, garlic toum and sumac, and Lobster Roll with custard buns, harissa mayo and relish water chestnut crunch. The pasta and plancha sections feature Bucatini Funghi Misti, Ramen Cacio e Pepe, Spicy Lumaconi al Vodka, Truffle Mushroom Rice and Arroz Chaufa. The Robata brings together vegetables, poultry, meat and seafood, including Portobello Relleno, Fire Grilled Plant “Steak”, Harissa Miso Chicken Skewers, Braised Lamb Shanks, Confit New Zealand Lamb Chops, Baked Chilean Sea Bass, Baked Alaskan King Crab and Hokkaido Scallops.
Speaking about the menu, Chef Sahil Singh says, “The menu at The Powder Room explores the natural relationship between Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. We combine the character of Mediterranean cooking with the precision, techniques and bold flavours of Asia. Africa becomes the bridge between the two, bringing an additional layer of spice, fire and earthiness to the experience.”
A Bar Programme by Anonymous Food Labs, the team behind Lair (New Delhi) and AABBCC
The bar programme is created by Anonymous Food Labs, the hospitality focused creative and beverage consultancy behind acclaimed bar concepts Lair, New Delhi and AABBCC. Lair is ranked No. 8 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026, No. 96 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2026 and No. 1 on 30 Best Bars India, while AABBCC is ranked No. 85 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2026. The team brings together expertise across cocktail development, beverage strategy, concept creation, storytelling and design, with both concepts earning recognition on the global bar circuit.
The programme at The Powder Room carries the MediterAsian philosophy into the bar, bringing together ingredients and flavour references from Asia and the Mediterranean through unexpected combinations. Cocktails including Forbidden Grove, Burnt Fashioned, Rosa del Mare, The Pink Phoenix, Coiba, Noble Roots and Flora incorporate ingredients such as clarified cherry tomato, toasted shiitake whisky, flower pepper mezcal, pandan, cacao butter and citrus, creating contrasts between spice, acidity, freshness and richness.
The cocktail menu itself is conceived as a journey across the world. Presented through a visual narrative inspired by a hot air balloon journey, the menu takes guests from one part of the world to another, with every cocktail accompanied by a country of origin that traces the journey of its key ingredient. From Turkish Delight originating in Turkey to Musa Velutina from India, orange blossom from China, yuzu from Japan, muscovado from the Philippines and calendula from Spain, each drink explores the cultural and historical journey of an ingredient.
A considered zero proof selection extends the cocktail programme beyond alcohol, with the same focus on flavour, balance and technique. The drinks complement the pace of the evening, from the first cocktail through dinner to drinks that keep the evening going
Dinner, With a Few Surprises
The Powder Room introduces a series of small rituals designed to make the experience feel personal and spontaneous.
Adding a little more fun to the evening, guests can challenge their server to a game of Achi, a traditional strategy game, and win a complimentary Zaatar Picante shot.
Dessert comes with its own illustrated menu, featuring miniature representations of the offerings and adding a playful element to choosing the final course.
These details are woven into the evening, adding an element of surprise while allowing the dinner, drinks and conversations to remain at the centre.
An African Inspired Setting
Designed by Sumessh Menon Associates, The Powder Room takes cues from Sub Saharan art and craftsmanship, creating an intimate and exclusive setting that transports guests into an art led, soulful interpretation of a “hidden earth”.
Layered, textural artwork, including a kinetic wall sculpture, builds momentum through the space, creating a calm yet invigorating energy. Lighting takes on an equally artistic quality, from the imposing 12 by 5 foot flowing chandelier running through the central spine of the room to custom designed floor lamps by Ledomatics, which complement the detailed, handcrafted artwork created by ZA Works.
The sprawling lounge seating allows guests to take in the artwork, with textured animal print upholstery in boucle and suede paired with earthy Red Levanto and Georgia marble tables. At the bar, animal prints, ripple light effects and layered wooden battens create a distinct yet cohesive ambience.
The design extends through every detail of the space, including the passageways, with contemporary handcrafted art and considered lighting contributing to the sense of discovery.
An evolving Afro jazz soundtrack runs through the evening, complementing the visual language of the space and adding to the atmosphere as the night progresses.
The Powder Room opens its doors tomorrow (September 3), bringing a new MediterrAsian dinner and cocktail club to Bandra.
